California Steel is the largest manufacturer of hot rolled steel in our market. We provide a broad range of sizes and a wide range of specifications to support the variety of manufacturing applications of our customers. Sold in coil, cut-to-length, and plate forms, we have modernized our rolling facility to enable us to offer hot rolled steel with good gauge control and shape of our product. Known primarily for applications in the structural use of steel, CSI's customers produce spiral weld pipe, shipping containers, tubing, metal buildings and other fabrication construction. Plate products are used in tank construction and other structural fabrication. We also provide hot rolled steel to the service and processing center industries, which serve as wholesale centers or provide an even broader range of product sizes after slitting, levelling, or cutting steel to smaller sizes and shapes. "Pickling" is a cleaning process used to remove the black oxide scale that forms on the steel strip after hot rolling. The strip is run through a hydrochloric acid bath, a rinse tank, air dryer and oiling station. CSI offers a broad range of grades and gauges, with key emphasis on very tight chemistry control and clean steel technology. All P & O product is processed through a modern pickle line that incorporates tension levelling, producing a product with a very flat shape and excellent surface. Typical applications which use pickled material includes automotive wheels, strapping, tubing, rack systems, and automotive stamping.
